Aircraft Weight selection

The aircraft weight class, for jet aircraft, is one of the categories L (Light), M (Medium) or H (Heavy). This is not actually related directly to the weight of the aircraft, but more to the effect of turbulence in the wake of the aircraft. Thus, for an aircraft classed H (Heavy) there may be restrictions on how far behind it an aircraft following it may have to stay.

In general terms, a small business jet will be in class L, a standard narrow-body jet aircraft will be in class M and a wide-body (long-distance) aircraft will be in class H.

Selection of a particular weight class is done by choosing one of these three weight classes. If preceded by a minus sign then the aircraft in that weight category will be not selected: in such cases the selected aircraft will be those in all other categories, plus ones of unknown weight class.
